Live The Light

Reiki is a very compassionate service where the practitioner is genuinely concrened with the well being of the client. It is this intention of healing that draws the healing energy and directs it towards the client. A Reiki practitioner is working with unseen "Healing physicians of Light," Beings of Light," and their own and the clients Guides and Guardian angels.

Reiki works in harmony with other treatments and is not meant to replace medical care. It is a great adjunct to any traditional therapy and will help facilitate healing. It can be used before and after surgery and for clients on chemotherapy. Some hospitals already employ a team of Reiki nurses and the patients enjoy and benefit from it very much.

Quantum Physics has proven what metaphysical practitioners have known all along, that we live in a sea of energy and we are all connected to and have access to this creative life force. Indeed, the entire Universe is one collective consciousness. It has been called the mind of God; omnipresent, with no beginning and no end. He has created the Universe (from himself) and is aware of everything in it, including the number of hairs upon you head. Each soul is an individuation of consciousness and resides within this vast consciousness. There is no real separation from God, only amnesia of our true origins. At first it may be hard to get your mind around this concept but with time it becomes easy. Each person is connected, through what are called Chakras, to this infinite supply of energy. For various reasons the energy becomes blocked, or the Chakras aren't functioning correctly. You can think of Chakras as a circuit board that connects us to this creative life force (the grid, or matrix). It is used to maintain our physical bodies, which are electro-chemical organisms. When the physical body can no longer compensate from lack of life force, disease is the outcome. A Reiki practitioner can help unblock the flow of energy, replenish the client's energy, and assist the Chakras back to proper functioning.

Usui Reiki is the system of Reiki developed by Dr. Mikao Usui.  He was born August 15, 1865 in the village of Yago in the Yamagata district of Gifu prefecture, Japan.

As a child he studied in a Tendai Buddhist monastery school entering at an early age. He was also a student of different martial arts. Usui sensei studied and traveled to western countries and China several times. At some point in his life he became a Tendai Buddhist Monk/Priest. On several occasions he took a form of meditation lasting 21 days. During one such meditation on Mount Kurama, he received a divine energy. He found that he was able to use this energy to heal. He realized he could pass this ability of healing on to others and was inspired to develop his system of healing - Reiki.  He founded the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai and initiated various students into Reiki Masters.

Reiki attunements are passed from Practitioner to Practitioner, in a traditional hands-on fashion. The Reiki Master/Teacher offers instruction and support to the new initiate. A Reiki attunement also involves a set of four sacred symbols. At one point they were kept secret. Students were not allowed to write them and so they were passed on only from memory. In ancient writings symbols carried concepts and power. The Usui Master symbol is a powerful symbol from Zen Buddhism. The Reiki symbols are a beautiful way to connect to the higher power. Their use does not require that we be able to meditate or have years of spiritual practice. The symbols have an energy, a life and consiousness of their own. The Reiki Master/Teacher passes the symbols on to the new initiate through intention and visualization. The symbols themselves become a part of the new Reiki initiate.
